Suicide Prevention
My project was to contextualize Suicide and Suicide Prevention to look into it in another context
contextualization. About 44,000 people try to carry out with suicide every year in the U.S.

ArtI made 3 slips with 3 different question that reads " I am Valuable because...
Are you positive about yourself? Why or why not? What in your life right now makes you happy?" Then, made a small slideshow to present to my classmates and handed them the slip to answer them in class. once I got them all back I glued them all on a paper and then drew a semicolon to represent hope and love to people who are having a hard time with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. Along with purple and turquoise paint splatters. I used contextualization in other people's response with in my art piece. |
EnglishI wrote a High school and Middle School campaign. In total, I made 2 campaigns having the same stories and facts. For high school I wrote a campaign that matches the vocabulary, reading and grammar level for grade 10 to 12 graders. I also made it match for the middle school. Not only that, I contextualized the stories of Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade and their Suicide.
For an example, in the 1st paragraph of the high school speech I said, " My name is Taylor Brooks and I want to take a moment to talk about suicide. Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and, administered by Vibrant Emotional Health. Then, in 1st paragraph of the Middle School campaign speech I said, " My name is Taylor Brooks and I want to take the time to talk about suicide. Suicide is the act of deliberately taking one's own life . The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is sponsored by the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and, administered by Vibrant Emotional Health." The difference in these campaign speeches are the tone that the words are giving off. |
CivicsFor Civics, I made a Mind map that had 4 categories: What the government is doing for Suicide Prevention, What the government doing to Prevent Suicide and What does Pennsylvania do for Suicide Prevention. Then, in the center of the Mind Map I had a semicolon tied with ropes which shows that all the categories are connected together. This shows contextualization by showing what the government is doing and what it isn't doing to What PA is doing to what I would do to prevent Suicide.
